Introducing a Humanoid Robot: Seven Questions Before the Pilot Project

From the task to the battery: these are the questions to clarify before a humanoid comes into your operation.

1. What task should it take on?

Describe a specific, recurring task. The more precise the task, the easier it is to check whether a humanoid or a specialized robot fits better.

2. Bipedal or on wheels?

Bipeds such as the Unitree G1 or UBTECH Walker S2 move in spaces built for people. Wheeled models such as the DOBOT ATOM-W (1.5 m/s chassis, LiDAR navigation) or the UBTECH Cruzr Y1 are faster and more stable on level floors.

3. How long does the battery last?

Runtimes in our range are around 2 to 4 hours depending on the model. The UBTECH Walker S2 swaps its own battery. With other models, plan for charging breaks.

4. How much load, how much precision?

Payload per arm ranges from around 3 kg for the Unitree G1 EDU, through 3.5 kg for the DOBOT ATOM Max, to around 7 kg for the Unitree H2 and up to 15 kg for the UBTECH Cruzr S2 and Walker S2. The DOBOT ATOM Max states a repeatability of ±0.05 mm.

5. Do you need open development?

The EDU versions and research models allow your own software. The base model Unitree G1 Basic is not intended for this. Clarify whether your team wants to develop or whether a ready-made behavior is enough.

6. What about safety and data protection?

A robot with cameras and sensors in operation needs clear rules for work areas, emergency stop and data processing. Involve the works council and data protection early.

7. Who looks after it day to day?

Humanoids also need maintenance, updates and a contact person on site. We plan introduction, training and support together with you, from the first test to everyday operation.

Where could a robot lend a hand in your business?

Or put differently: where can we cut costs, increase revenue and unlock potential? Secure a permanently available team member who needs no breaks.

We analyse your workflows, show suitable applications and tell you honestly where robots pay off. Free of charge. No obligation. Practice-oriented.
